ocr: CDS The aim of the CDS (Coronal Diagnostic Spectrometer) instrument is_to detect emission lines from trace elements in the corona, and transition region which will be used to provide diagnostic intorma- tion on the solar atmosphere and especially on plasmas in, the temperature range from 10,000 to over a million K. This allows the derivation ofr characteristics such as temperature structure, electron density, element abundances, and dynamic nature of dif- ferent features in the solar atmosphere.
